Event details
About the event
Thanks to Farming in a Protected Landscapes funding Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is leading further volunteering sessions on behalf of Etching Hill Charity.
There are four sessions, each running from 10am until 2pm or 2.30pm (you can stay as long as you’re able to):
- 15/1/25
- 21/1/25
- 4/2/25
- 18/2/25
Charlie Forrest-King will be leading the activity which is scrub clearance for heathland restoration.
If you’re able to stay for the entire session we recommend bringing a packed lunch. Everyone is welcome (over 18s) and any time you can give is appreciated, it all helps!
Please note this activity is weather dependent (this may stop activity) so please free to ring Charlie on the day to check 07971912071
Location: Etching Hill AONB - Mount Road, Rugeley, WS15 2TL
There is some space to park in a layby, but if you can walk over or car share that would be much appreciated.
Staff may arrive before 10am so if you do get there early could you please leave the entrance onto Etching hill open – this is by the black and white bollard in the layby for access.
From the layby walk up the path, right of the tall interpretation sign next to the benches. You will see the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust vehicle along the path and Charlie will be nearby to greet you.
What to bring:
- Appropriate clothing for the weather and clothing you don't mind getting dirty.
- Sturdy footwear (boots or wellies). The terrain can be uneven underfoot.
- Some lunch and a snack for break time. The nearby church hall may be open but if not then a flask with a warm drink may be useful. There are no facilities whilst out on site.
Gloves will be provided and tools will be there for use on the day.
All safety and tool talks are given on the day and it's not a problem if you have never done something like this before as Charlie will guide you
