Access

Some easy paths (with wheelchair and pushchair access), others more difficult including steep climbs and uneven terrain. When the cafe is open (not run by SWT) the gate (second turning on left) is usually unlocked allowing vehicular access to the cafe where there are 2-3 parking spots which can be used by blue badge holders.

About the reserve

You will find a mixture of landscaped views and natural features. There's a large lake and boathouse which date from 1903 and form a central feature. The site's hydroelectric scheme dates from 1904. A network of themed paths allows exploration of the meadows, parkland and woodland.

The site is good for bird watching as you'll find a range of woodland birds here, including great spotted woodpecker, jays, nuthatch and chiffchaffs. If you’re lucky, you might spot fieldfares and redwings feeding on the holly berries. Listen for the soft whistles of bullfinches in hedgerows or scrub along the woodland edge. The magnificent trees provide spectacular autumn colour.

The site has a café  - The Hideaway - which is managed by Biddulph Town Council. You can find information about the cafe, including opening times on the Hideaway's Facebook page here.

Please note Biddulph Grange Garden is a separate property from Biddulph Grange Country Park and is owned by the National Trust. For more information on Biddulph Grange Garden opening times please visit their website.
