Forest School launches at Trentham Gardens

Youngsters are being invited to connect with the outside world and to learn a range of new skills at a six-week Forest School course taking place at Trentham Gardens.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust are launching the six-week Forest School course at the Stoke-on-Trent venue this November.

Activities may include using fire to cook food or heat water for drinks, using a variety of tools to make items from wood, building dens from natural materials and a variety of outdoor crafts and games.

Sessions will be held every Saturday morning from 6th November to 11th December 10.30am - 12.30pm

Susan Koszak, Wildchild Officer for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, said: “The Forest School ethos aims to develop your learning in a holistic way, ensuring that you gain teamwork skills, empathy for the world and its inhabitants and the development of several skills.

“We’re really pleased to be running the course at such a fantastic venue at Trentham Gardens, and would like to thank the team there for hosting us.”

Carol Adams, Head of Biodiversity and Horticulture at Trentham Estate added: “The importance of connecting with nature and the environment cannot be underestimated for the health and wellbeing of our youth. The chance to break away from screens and get outside to learn about our natural environment with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is a tremendous benefit to those aged 8-13.

We do work closely with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust so it was very easy for us to support the team with this initiative and we are delighted to be able to host Forest School this Autumn at Trentham.  We look forward to welcoming our partners from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and the Forest School to the Trentham Estate from 6 November.”

Those attending should wear sturdy shoes or wellies and bring a drink and some snacks.

The cost to attend is £90 per child for the whole six-week course. Find out more here https://www.staffs-wildlife.org.uk/events/2021-11-06-forest-school-trentham-gardens
