The current condition of the river is artificially straightened and rock armoured allowing for little in the way of geomorphological diversity or dynamism, and limiting the potential of this stretch of the river to develop habitat features suitable for supporting a full range of native species. The prepared design includes creating new sections of channel to restore meander features, also the creation of side channels and pools, and the installation of gravels to increase substrate diversity and encourage natural formation of riparian features through transportation and deposition.
The target delivery period is from September to October 2020.
