Opportunity to Tender: River Restoration Project

Opportunity to Tender: River Restoration Project

As part of the ERDF SUNRISE Project (funded by the European Regional Development Fund) Staffordshire Wildlife Trust are seeking experienced river restoration contractors to tender for a works contract to undertake a river restoration scheme realigning approx 400m of the river Trent, on the Leek Road Campus of Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

The current condition of the river is artificially straightened and rock armoured allowing for little in the way of geomorphological diversity or dynamism, and limiting the potential of this stretch of the river to develop habitat features suitable for supporting a full range of native species. The prepared design includes creating new sections of channel to restore meander features, also the creation of side channels and pools, and the installation of gravels to increase substrate diversity and encourage natural formation of riparian features through transportation and deposition.
The target delivery period is from September to October 2020.

Questions about the contract should be directed to Richard Guy at r.guy@staffs-wildlife.org.uk.

See the Invitation to Tender advert on Contracts Finder at https://www.contractsfinder.service.gov.uk/Notice/7f65b1e2-abdb-4081-be72-30d1a8c60b18

Closing date for responses is Tuesday August 11th 2020.
