The Trust is delivering sessions as part of the Building Better Opportunities Stafford and South Staffordshire project, which is jointly funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund.

The three-year project will focus on key groups who typically find they have multiple barriers to overcome when finding suitable employment, such as people over 50, lone parents, or those who experience homelessness, substance misuse, history of offending and mental ill-health. The project tackles barriers that prevent these groups of people from accessing support with more opportunities for education and training, improved health and wellbeing services, better financial help and new programmes to build people’s confidence.

The charity, the county’s largest nature conservation organisation, is holding the course titled Wild Wellbeing at its Wolseley Centre HQ, near Rugeley. During the course participants will be able to take part in various activities outdoors including walks, practical conservation, bird watching, bush craft, woodcrafts, and plant and tree identification. The course will be delivered in eight-week blocks to allow participants time to gain confidence, develop new skills and knowledge, and socialise with others in the group.

Laura Thomas, who will be delivering the sessions for the Trust, said: “Our Wolseley Centre HQ is set in 26 acres of beautiful grounds and is the perfect place to provide people with an array of activities that offer health and wellbeing benefits and opportunities to acquire new skills.

“Our current eight-week course is taking place and going well, and we hope to run more courses in the New Year.
