The county’s largest nature conservation charity has organised a Wildchild Festival event on Wednesday 7th August to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year.
The event, which is being supported by funding from Arts Council England, will be a one-day celebration of art and nature set in the backdrop of The Wolseley Centre site, near Rugeley.
The Wildchild Festival has been organised as one of the Trust’s key events to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2019. The Trust is reminding people to book in advance before 24th July for the event, which is ticket only.
Families of all ages from all across Staffordshire and beyond are being invited to attend the event to experience arts and nature combined with a myriad of nature based activities, immersive theatre, storytelling and site-specific artwork.
Alongside the festival they will be commissioning an artist to work with local young people to create a piece of artwork to be revealed on the day.
Activities will include obstacle courses, mudslides, natural crafts and a Construction Zone.
There will also be a market tipi, orchard bar and entertainment from Talking Birds Theatre, The Fabularium and Ian Douglas Storyteller.
Katie Shipley, from the Trust’s People Engagement team, said: “We’ve sold over 500 tickets so far and it is shaping up to be a very exciting event for our 50th anniversary.
“There will be lots going on during the event, including exciting nature themed arts, crafts and workshops. Activities will be taking place across the whole site, from badger wood, by the lake and on our beautiful Park Bank.
“We want to make the event as fun and family friendly as possible and in the process, those coming along will be helping us support wildlife and wild places across the county.”
The event is an advanced booking only event. People can purchase a Family Ticket (which will allow entry for two adults and three children) or Individual tickets. 0-2 year olds can attend for free, but they must be registered to ensure the Trust knows how many people are coming.
Ticket prices range from £30 for a family and £8 for individuals and includes access to all the exciting shows and activities taking place during the event.
