The Ride the Roaches event runs from the Trust’s Wolseley Centre headquarters, near Rugeley, on Sunday 8th September and there will be three distances for people to take part in, a ‘Mammoth’ 90-mile route, a ‘Midi’ 60-mile route and a ‘Mini’ 30-mile route.
Money raised from the Ride the Roaches event goes towards the Trust’s conservation work, including looking after wildlife and wild places in the county. This year is a special one for the charity – who are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2019.
The courses, which take in some of the county’s beautiful scenery, have been designed by professionals at Ride Ventures to test the best. The event includes Chip Timing from StuWeb which delivers timing and scoring services for races across the UK and beyond.
Sue Chance, Head of Commercial for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, said: “Our first Ride the Roaches event went really well last year, and we’re hopeful this year’s will be just as good – if not better.
“This is a huge year for the Trust as it’s our 50th anniversary to we’re hoping lots of keen cyclists will sign up to register their place and support the event.
“The course takes in some of Staffordshire’s most iconic scenery and the feedback we had last year was that the event was excellent and lots of fun. We wanted once more for the event to be open to everyone to take part in and having these three routes means that is possible.”
The cost to enter the ‘mammoth’ 90 mile route is £25, ‘midi’ 60 mile route £20 and ‘mini’ 30 mile route £15. Online registration will closed at 12 midday on Friday 30th August. Entrants can register on the day itself but there will be an extra cost of £10 p.p.
