The charity has hundreds of volunteers, who give their time freely to help with all manner of tasks. From practical conservation, helping to run activities for children, right through to helping customers in the charity shops, they are at the heart of all the Trust does. This Volunteers’ Week, which takes place between 1 and 7 June every year, allows a chance to recognise the fantastic contribution volunteers make and say thank you. The Trust is also running a recruitment drive to find volunteers to help in several areas of the Trust. There are practical conservation roles to help us manage some of our 40 plus reserves, and office or shop based volunteer roles, with something on offer for everyone. Two newly created roles include filming and editing together videos to showcase the Trust’s reserves and a chance for budding writers to pen blogs and seasonal wildlife content. Applications close at midnight on Friday 9 June. Jeff Sim, Head of Nature Reserves and Species Recovery, said: “We are thankful for our incredible volunteers every single day but Volunteers’ Week is a special time to really celebrate all they do and inspire others to get involved. “Our volunteers come from all walks of life and some have been with us since the early days of the Trust. We cannot thank them enough for all the time they give up to help us care for Staffordshire’s wild places. “Right now we’re looking for several volunteers, with opportunities in a diverse range of areas. We have office roles as well as practical roles, and also need a driver to help us transport stock between our charity shops.” Those interested in volunteering can find out what opportunities are on offer by visiting the Trust’s website: www.staffs-wildlife.org.uk/volunteering-opportunities Applications close at midnight on Friday 9 June. |
