Charity calendar competition launched to celebrate Staffordshire’s wildlife

Photographers are invited to submit their snaps to celebrate Staffordshire’s varied wildlife and landscapes for a 2025 charity calendar
This competition is a chance to celebrate our county’s wildlife and enable everyone to enjoy it in a calendar. By harnessing the talent of our local photographers we’ll also raise vital funds to help us continue our work to restore more places for nature in Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has launched a competition to find 12 stunning images from across the county for the calendar, which will go on sale later this year.

Photographers can enter photographs they have already taken or capture something new. Categories include wildlife in gardens, landscapes, macro, wildlife in action, and people in nature. Images must have been taken in Staffordshire and the charity especially wants them to have been taken in all seasons, to create a varied and vibrant calendar.

The Trust is also encouraging up and coming young photographers to enter with a special under 18 category. The winner of which will receive a photography tutorial with Adrian Clarke, a top local wildlife photographer and one of the winners in last year’s competition.

From bugs to birds, and gardens to nature reserves, the calendar will showcase and celebrate the variety of special wildlife and places of Staffordshire.

The best entries will feature in the 2025 calendar and winners will receive a copy. The overall winner will be picked by an online public vote and their image will feature on the calendar’s cover. They will also receive a camera bag worth £300 from Lowepro, kindly gifted in sponsorship of the competition.

Sarah Davison, Marketing and Communications Manager for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, said: “Inspiring people to appreciate and connect with nature is an important part of our charity’s work, and something we do through our community engagement work every single day.

“This competition is a chance to celebrate our county’s wildlife and enable everyone to enjoy it in a calendar. By harnessing the talent of our local photographers we’ll also raise vital funds to help us continue our work to restore more places for nature in Staffordshire.

“We are especially keen to receive images of people in nature and landscape photos. Whether it’s a misty scene over one of our wetlands or a happy

moment showing a child delighting in finding a bug, nature enriches our lives in so many ways.

“A special thank you to Lowepro for sponsoring the competition once again and to local photographer Adrian for hosting our under 18s prize.”

The closing date for entries is midnight on Monday 15th July. The winners will be announced by the end of July, with a public vote running during August. Photographers can submit up to three landscape oriented photos, which must have been taken in Staffordshire. Full terms and conditions apply and can be found online.
