Net Gain Staffordshire - our new website to support in the delivery of BNG
Net Gain Staffordshire is a new website that has been developed by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust to ensure that any funds generated for nature recovery through the Government's new Biodiversity Net Gain rules are used to get the biggest benefits for nature.
The platform is underpinned by the latest ecological data from around the county and will help developers locate the most suitable areas for nature recovery. Work is starting in Staffordshire to develop a Local Nature Recovery Strategy, which will set out the long-term priorities for how we can halt and reverse the decline of nature across the county.
Net Gain Staffordshire is designed to help align the delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain with the priorities in the emerging Local Nature Recovery Strategy. Net Gain Staffordshire is endorsed by a number of local authorities in Staffordshire. The Trust is talking to local authority planning teams across the county about adopting Net Gain Staffordshire to help them fulfil the requirements of Biodiversity Net Gain.
Net Gain Staffordshire will be a fantastic tool for developers, landowners and local authorities by ensuring that any new developments contribute positively to nature recovery by boosting local biodiversity and protecting wildlife habitats.
Importantly, this new website will help to align the new requirement for Biodiversity Net Gain with the priorities of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

Have Biodiversity Units to sell, or interested in using your land for Biodiversity Net Gain?
If you are a landowner or manager, you can register your land on Net Gain Staffordshire, together with information on the number of BNG units and habitat opportunities available. Registering on Net Gain Staffordshire will make your land visible to developers who have BNG requirements to meet.
